He who has an ear hear what the Spirit says…

This link says that the ear is a mechanical organ versus smell and taste which are chemical. When I read this I thought of when a rhema word is quickened inside. The Holy Spirit quickens the word that is abiding in me. Then co-mingles with my soul. Understanding comes by faith. Faith comes by hearing. My soul then partakes of the nature of the rhema word through spiritual osmosis. This in turn can have an effect on my flesh and its response to grace through the word.

I thought when I say something that is not quickened by God it is an empty word. Jesus said in John 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

1 Thessalonians 1:5 says, “…because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. ”

Ephesians 5:6, “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.”

It seems when words come from the flesh or anything other than the Spirit of God they are truly powerless and empty. How can something empty have power?
