Another new diet fad?

Heb. 13:9,

Do not be carried about[c] with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.”

Heb. 13:9 (NLT) says, “So do not be attracted by strange, new (spiritual teachings) ideas. Your spiritual strength comes from God’s special (grace) favor, not from ceremonial rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.”

What is a diet? One definition says, ” to regulate the food of, esp. in order to improve the physical condition.” I believe diets have good motivation and are profitable only if the heart is changed. If I approach a diet and my heart or spirit of mind is not in agreement then it becomes a “ceremonial rule about food” and the bible says that the letter kills, 2 Cor. 3:6, Rom. 7:11.

According to Heb. 13:9, my heart is strengthened by the grace of the Lord. If my heart is strenghtened by the supernatural power of God the my motivation towards food and everthing else changes. This is a contrast to a “ceremonial rule about food.” The word says, “The just shall live by faith.” Under grace, the New Covenant, Christ reveals Himself in us by His word. The understanding and knowledge of truth changes me in everyway into a new being. My mind, will, heart, spirit and even body is transformed by this truth from glory to glory. Ceremonial rules about food can’t do that.
