It’s not my block!

Today my sons were cleaning their rooms. They each have these over sized lego toys. The older son was arguing with the younger over one block. The conversation went something like this,

Older brother, “It’s not my block!”

Younger brother, “Yes, it is!”

Older brother, “It’s your block!”

I went and told my older son, “Give me the block.” He gave it to me. I walked away. Their argument completely and instantly dissipated. I removed the core object of the argument. Then the thought dawned on me, “He removed the partition between the two”, Eph. 2:14. The partition, was the Mosaic Law. In Eph. 2:15, the partition is referenced to as enmity, the cause of enmity or hostility. The partition condemned one and potentially enabled self-righteousness in the other.

I believe the Word and revelation of the Word, that is Christ, imparts grace that enables me, or Christ in me, to forgive and give the Lord the block.

When the block is removed it is made obsolete.

Hebrews 8:13 says, “By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.”

One day, I believe my sons will realize the block is not really that important and I won’t need to remove it because in their minds it will be obsolete.

God-willing, they will grow in their motivation by His love in them.

Galatians 5:6, “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”
